Habimana Kabera and Leniya Mukamuganga met in the Democratic Republic of Congo and soon had to flee violence in their home country. Arriving in a refugee camp in Rwanda, they had seven children, now ages 7 to 22, over the next 25 years.

On July 9th, they arrived in the U.S. and were welcomed at the Manchester airport by IINE Community Service Manager, Megan Clark, Case Specialist, Jean Mugabo, Employment Specialist, Andrew Cullen and Case Worker, Fidele Hakizimana.

Megan notes, “We were lucky to find an apartment for them in the same building as another family who also fled the DRC for Rwanda and lived in Rwanda for a long time.”
