Do you want to make a difference and help recently arrived refugees in our community? Have a few hours available on a Friday afternoon? Become a Job Club volunteer. Employment is crucial to a New American’s success in the United States.
How can I help?
Trained volunteers meet with New Americans weekly to assist in refugees search for jobs and prepare for the first day of work. Activities include:
- Preparing a resume and cover letter
- Practicing for an interview
- Completing on-line job application
- Practicing work place English
- Practicing computer basics.
But I’m not an expert!
IINE Manchester will show you the way. All Job Club volunteers participate in a two hour training that covers the basics. IINE’s Employment Specialist will guide volunteers during Job Club and are always available to answer questions.
What’s my commitment?
Job Club volunteers attend a two hour training before they participate. Job Club is every Friday from 1:00pm – 3:00pm at the IINE office. Volunteers are encouraged to determine the Fridays they are available, whether it be weekly, once a month, or once a quarter and RSVP with IINE. Each volunteer must complete a volunteer application and a background check. The cost of the background check is $10.00.
