I’m running the Paris Marathon on April 8, 2018

A Message from Bibi Lichauco, former intern at IINE and current Tufts University student studying abroad in Paris, France:

I am so thankful to have the chance to live my childhood dream of studying in France, and I am excited now to check something else off the bucket list: I will be running the 2018 PARIS MARATHON on April 8, 2018.

Why on earth would anyone do a marathon, you ask?  Of course I want to prove to myself that I can meet this challenge, but this race is also a really good opportunity to raise funds for something I care about dearly.

This past summer, I interned for the International Institute of New England. Founded in 1918, IINE is a non-profit based in Boston that is devoted to assisting refugees and immigrants successfully transition into life in America. As an intern at IINE, I had the privilege of working with people from all over the world, whose stories of bravery and perseverance reminded me that human grit prevails.

Marathon training does not compare to what many of IINE’s clients have endured and continue to face, so I am determined to meet the challenge in their honor.

With your help, I am seeking to raise $2,000. Your money will be going towards the overall operation of providing clients with the resettlement, English language, and employment training services they need. In 2017, IINE supported 2,000 people find housing and employment along with educational resources to reclaim their lives in a new country.

This means a whole lot to me for many reasons, so thank you for your kind consideration.

Here’s to humanity and helping our neighbors, and to a brighter 2018 for everyone!
