Suitcase Stories® is a traveling live performance series, workshop curriculum, and community engagement tool that features foreign and U.S.-born residents sharing refugee and immigrant stories. The format of storytelling in a theatrical setting is especially suited to these powerful tales of real-life experience.
Since the program was launched in 2017, more than 10,000 people have attended a performance or showcase of Suitcase Stories®, and thousands more watched a taped episode on PBS television. The responses from those audience members spoke of how the performance challenged and expanded their perceptions of refugees and immigrants. Proceeds from all Suitcase Stories® activities help support refugees and immigrants participating in IINE’s resettlement, education, employment, and citizenship programs.
The Suitcase Stories® series provides a way for a community to dig beneath the headlines, exposes audiences to the complexity of immigration issues, and directly impacts life-changing refugee services. Join us.
