Rebecca LaPierre

Director of Immigration Legal Services

Rebecca LaPierre

An attorney and educator with deep expertise in immigration law and human rights, Rebecca is passionate about advocating for immigrants who have fled persecution and helping them navigate our complex and changing immigration legal system.

Before joining IINE, she served as a Senior Staff Attorney at the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI), where she represented clients in immigration matters, supervised legal teams, provided strategic oversight on complex immigration cases and developed internal policies, training programs, and case management systems.

Her legal practice has focused on affirmative immigration matters, including asylum, Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs), adjustment of status, and family reunification. Rebecca also worked as a labor and employment attorney at Morgan, Brown & Joy, LLP in Boston and at Eaton Peabody in Bangor, Maine. She holds a Master of Arts in International Human Rights and Global Ethics from the University of Leicester and a Juris Doctor from the University of Maine School of Law.

In addition to her legal practice, Rebecca serves as an adjunct professor at Southern New Hampshire University, where she has taught undergraduate courses in justice studies and business law.

When not working, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her husband, Jon, their cat, Malcom, and their energetic young rescue puppy, Luffy. She also loves attending live performances of all kinds, traveling, theme parks, crafting, reading and listening to audiobooks, binge-watching TV, board games, puzzles, and trivia.
