Information on Temporary Protected Status (TPS)
On June 25, 2026, the Supreme Court issued a ruling allowing the presidential administration to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for hundreds of thousands of Haitians and Syrians in the U.S.
We are awaiting guidance from a lower court to fully understand how the Supreme Court’s ruling will impact Haitian and Syrian TPS holders and related TPS-based work authorization documents (EADs).
This news is devastating and disastrous. There are over 300,000 Haitian TPS holders in the U.S., including more than 20,000 in Massachusetts. These individuals have become integral to our communities and workforce. They are business owners, nursing assistants and caregivers, agricultural workers, and construction workers. They are our colleagues, neighbors, and friends.
In response to the real fear and uncertainty many Haitian families now face, IINE has launched a TPS Support Initiative to provide compassionate, trauma-informed support. Our staff are currently reaching out to impacted Haitian families in our care to provide:
- Legal consultations to offer guidance and assess potential forms of legal relief
- Family preparedness planning, so there is a plan in place should a parent be detained and separated from their child(ren) due to an expired legal status
- Intensive case management and employment support
- Connections to essential resources, including food and housing
