education

Critical to our mission at IINE is to provide those we serve with a pathway to durable self-sufficiency so they are able to build a foundation of support for themselves and their families. English language instruction is an essential component of this support.

We provide newly-arrived refugee adults and other new immigrants with multi-level English language instruction through our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes, which seek to rapidly equip clients with the language skills and cultural knowledge needed to successfully enter the workforce. These classes include vocabulary, conversation, and important workplace knowledge like preparing for a job interview.

Interested in Volunteering?

IINE’s  ESOL volunteers play an important role in supporting students learning English. This opportunity is remote, and classes are conducted through the Zoom platform. Volunteers meet with students in breakout rooms and review English assignments provided by the ESOL instructor. Volunteers meet for one hour once a week. Orientation, training, and staff support are available to all ESOL volunteers. If you are interested in becoming an ESOL volunteer, share your contact information with us and someone will be in touch with you.
