Employment Support
Refugees and immigrants often face barriers to employment — particularly, limited English proficiency and the cultural knowledge necessary to enter and succeed in the American workforce.
Many of the individuals IINE serves have had unique experiences of persecution and flight, which disrupt skill development and work history.

How We Help
We serve individuals through an integrated Refugee Employment Services model that combines English language instruction, employment services and industry skills training, and support services coordination. Our employment team helps refugees and immigrants prepare for their entry into the workforce, providing support and guidance throughout the job application process, among other services. For interested individuals, our job skills team offers hands-on skills training such as nursing assistant programs.

Our Impact
Each year, IINE trains and places more than 650 refugees and immigrants into the Massachusetts and New Hampshire workforce, with a focus on jobs that are above the minimum wage. In New Hampshire, for example, the average hourly rate of employed refugees and immigrants is more than double the state’s minimum wage.

Job Skills Training
Our job training classes take place online and through hybrid instruction (a combination of online and in-person learning), with new sessions starting throughout the year. Program graduates enter careers in the construction, healthcare, hospitality, and service industries. Many move up to higher positions with greater responsibility and better pay.
Certified Nursing Assistant Program
This CNA program is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education and is designed specifically for English language learners seeking a rewarding career in the healthcare field. The course includes 100 hours of class and 100 hours of clinical training. Following this, students prepare for and take the CNA licensing exam.
