Sofie Suter
Director, Unaccompanied Children Program

Herself an immigrant, world traveler, and mother, Sofie is passionate about immigrant rights and child safety. Born in Switzerland, Sofie arrived in the U.S. at age nine. She has lived and worked in India, Ghana, and Kenya, and speaks English, Spanish, German, and French. Sofie was first drawn to helping Unaccompanied Children after completing an internship on the U.S./Mexico border. She holds a master’s degree in conflict resolution and sits on the governing council of the Boston Family Engagement Network.

Sofie began her work in IINE’s Unaccompanied Children Program (UCP) in 2016 as a Case Aide for Home Study and Post-Release Services. She progressed to the role of Program Director, presiding over an expansion from a single team with a staff of eight, to four teams comprised of more than 30 staff members spanning New England and New York. IINE’s UCP now serves twice as many children with more comprehensive services, including deepened mental health support.

Outside of work, if she’s not cooking or gardening, Sofie enjoys hiking, running, surfing, spending time with her children, and traveling.
